KRISHNAGAR, 15 MAY: The man living at Bowbazar in Krishnagar who was picked
up by the Nadia police on the suspicion that he fled from the Covid hospital in
Asansole tested negative tonight.
The Chief Medical
Officer of Health (CMOH) has informed this to the sub-divisional officer, Kalyani
asking him to release the man from the Kalyani SNR Carnival Covid hospital.
This test report
proves that the police based on the ‘misleading’ information picked up the man
wrongfully from his house at Bowbazar in Krishnagar and sent him to the Covid
hospital.
Sources in the
district health department said the man will get a release order tomorrow and he
will be advised to stay in home quarantine along with his family members for
the next 14 days.
On the other hand,
police are looking for the man who originally fled from the ESI Covid
hospital a few days ago. As the man is still at large, the administration and
police are worried that he could have spread the virus among the people, a
health official said.
A 45-year-old man has
reportedly fled from the ESI Covid hospital in Asansole a few days ago. The man
was admitted in the Asansole district hospital with some ailments, but he was
later shifted to the Covid hospital as he was tested positive for Covid-19.
But, under mysterious circumstances, he has not been traced inside the hospital
for the last few days.
The hospital
authorities and the district health department have remained tight-lipped, and
till the police were confused about his identity till yesterday.
In the Covid status
report, the man has reportedly registered his address as a resident of Nadia
and put his mobile number. Accordingly, the Nadia police picked up a youth from
Bowbazar in Krishnagar who has the same name and address registered in the
covid status report.
But, confusion arose
when the health authorities from Asansole sent a photograph to the Nadia
district administration and police.
The photograph of the missing person was not identical with the youth who was picked up by the Nadia police based on the information that he being a covid positive patient has fled from the hospital.
A health official
said, “Due to misinformation, we picked up the man and kept him in the covid
hospital as the test report of the missing person was positive for Covid-19. But,
due to confusion, we had kept him in the hospital in an isolated place. As his
report showed negative, we will release him, but will advise him to stay in
home quarantine for 14 days”.
Zafar Ajmal Kidwai,
SP, Krishnagar police district said, “Based on the information, we picked him up and we did nothing wrong. But, we are carrying out a probe into this matter
to find out the missing link”.
Meanwhile, it is
learnt that the man may lodge a complaint against the district administration
for unnecessarily harassing and keeping him in the Covid hospital.
geart ! relieved !
