The railway authorities had embarked on
a plan to install the tall flag pole with lighting facility in front of the
Krishnagar railway station to hoist the national flag atop it as symbol of
national pride and unity in diversity, a senior railway official said.
The Indian Railways had decided to
install at least 100-feet tall tricolours on the premises of 75 of the busiest
stations in the country.
The Railway Board, the apex body of the
national transporter, issued the order two years ago, which was forwarded to
all the zonal railways. The board had decided to provide monumental flag (of at
least 100-ft height) at all the erstwhile ‘A1’ class railway stations, a
railway official said.
