This apart, four National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) jawans posted in their eastern zone headquarters at Haringhata, who worked during the devastating cyclone Amphan, tested positive. The test reports of several other NDRF jawans whom the district health department had collected swab samples have not been reached yet. The health officials suspect that many jawans may be affected as they worked together with the corona-hit areas during the disaster.

As many as 177 personnel have submitted swab tests for the deadly virus in West Bengal and Odisha after they returned to their respective stations, a health official said.
Almost all of those who tested positive are asymptomatic. More tests are being done, an official said. Those found positive have been admitted to hospital isolation facilities.
